Why Porini

Top 5 Reasons why you are in good hands
with Porini Camps

Many of our guests return to us year after year for advice and support with their safari travel plans. Listed below just a few of the reasons why they choose us – and why you should contact us when you are ready to plan your next trip

1. We are internationally acclaimed for our success in conservation and hospitality

Porini Camps have received numerous international awards since we started operations 30 years ago. These awards are the best testimony of our reliability & integrity.

We have won “Africa’s Responsible Tourism Award”, “Kenya’s Leading Safari Camp Brand” and “Africa’s Leading Tented Safari Camps” in the World Travel Awards and “Kenya’s Tour Operator of the Year” in the Ecotourism Warrior Awards.

Other international awards include the World Travel Market, London Responsible Tourism Award for Best Tour Company in Conservation, the National Geographic rating in the Top Ten Best African Safari Companies in the World, Skal International award for Best Tour Operator & Travel Agent, Kenya Tourism Award for Tour Operator of the Year, and our Porini Mara Camp has been listed by Trip Advisor as one of the Top Ten properties in Africa.

At home in Kenya, our Porini Safari Camps have all been certified by Ecotourism Kenya with Gold and Silver ratings putting us at the top of all the safari properties in the country.

2. With Porini you get professional international assistance near you

In addition to our team in Kenya, we also have expert Safari Advisers in our Porini offices in the USA, Canada, UK, India and Australia who will be delighted to assist in planning and booking your safari.

You can liaise with them by telephone or by email.

3. When travelling with Porini you support conservation & local communities

In Kenya, we pioneered the “Conservancy Concept” – the leasing of land to form community-owned wildlife conservancies adjacent to the national parks.

This approach has transformed the areas adjoining Amboseli National Park and the Mara Reserve where wildlife habitat has regenerated, enlarging the area available for wild animals.

Wildlife numbers have increased in these protected areas, with the “Big Five” all evident as well as many rare or endangered species. Visitor numbers to the Conservancies are strictly controlled to avoid over-use of the land, so guests who choose to stay at Porini Camps (within the Conservancies) benefit from premium game-viewing with few – if any – other tourist vehicles present.

The Conservancy Concept has brought financial advantages to the local people. Over 200 members of the local communities are working with Gamewatchers Safaris & Porini Camps, while over 500 families earn a steady monthly income from leasing land inside the conservancies.

4. Our prices & special offers are highly competitive

As a safari company based in Africa we have very competitive rates which we are able to pass on to our customers and we offer discounts and added value deals so that you have a price advantage when booking with us.

We also feature special offers such as free Nairobi airport transfers and free hotels when you book six or more nights at our selection of the leading camps in Kenya. Click here to see our Special Offers for more details.

And for your peace of mind, all customers booking a safari of 7 nights or more with Gamewatchers receive free membership of the Flying Doctor Service while they are on safari in East Africa – this covers free medical emergency evacuation to Nairobi.

5. Porini Camps are managed by experienced people
